An innovative, 28-year old organization committed to the advancement of Latino
immigrants in East Boston. EBECC employs a multicultural staff of 20 who integrate multi-faceted community organizing with a wide range of services including immigration, adult education, and youth programming. |

Work in a well-established program that promotes the educational achievement of Latino immigrant students from East Boston High School who have limited English proficiency. A team of 5 staff provides ESL and study skills instruction, homework help, healthy lifestyles workshops, enrichment clubs and other recreational activities, and professionally-staffed individual and group counseling to 115 students a year. Duties include: providing homework assistance to young people one-on-one and in small groups; training and supervising volunteers from colleges and high schools who are providing homework assistance; identifying trends in students’ needs and working with the program’s Education Coordinator to develop programming to address them; and, participating in recreational programming on some Friday afternoons |

16-20 hours a week. Preferred schedule: 2:00-6:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Some flexibility in schedule available. Beginning in September, preferably early in the month, and ending June 8th. |

$11-13.00 an hour, depending upon education and experience. |
|
Bachelor’s degree in Education preferred. At least one year of experience tutoring or teaching high school students. Previous experience with Latino immigrant high school students. Strong skills in high school-level math desirable. Excellent spoken and written English. Verbal and written fluency in Spanish essential. |
