Youth Center Coordinator

 

Manage the agency’s Youth Department. Oversee planning, implementation and evaluation of after-school and summer programming serving immigrant high school students from Central and South America who attend East Boston High School. Current programs focus on promoting educational achievement and leadership development. 

Major Responsibilities:
  • school-based outreach to recruit program participants;
  • building relationships with program participants;
  • managing the daily operation of the Youth Center;
  • supervising staff and college student volunteers;
  • leading health promotion workshops and recreational activities;
  • referring young people in need of counseling to the department’s Clinical Social Worker;
  • maintaining collaborative relationships with personnel at East Boston High School and neighborhood youth-serving agencies;
  • maintaining participant and program records;
  • participating in program development and evaluation;
  • and, participating in agency management and development.
Qualifications:         
    • Three (3) years full-time experience with teens. Two years experience with Latino immigrant teens.

    • One year experience in staff supervision and program management.

    • Strong outreach and group work skills. Excellent organizational skills. Strong computer skills.

    • Excellent spoken and written English. Verbal and written fluency in Spanish essential.
